  • About the Ubunye Project

The Ubunye Project is a project by juniors from Mount Madonna School as part of the Values in World Thought Program. The students went on a learning journey to South Africa from June 16 to July 3, 2017.

"Ubunye" is the Zulu word for 'unity'.

In South Africa, we visited a variety of schools and organizations to expand our world view and build unity with people around the world. We also met and spoke with several influential people in the South African community including Archbishop Desmond Tutu.

During the past school year, we worked hard to fundraise for the trip, as well as gather donations, physical and monetary, for the wonderful organizations we visited, such as Botshabelo Childrens AIDS village and the Philani Maternal, Child Health and Nutrition project.
